Dinner Plain Snowmaking Project Update - Bore Drilling

3 October 2023

To support the delivery of the Dinner Plain Snowmaking Project, we are proposing to install groundwater production bores in the vicinity of the Cobungra ski slope for the purpose of snowmaking.

Currently, Council uses water extracted from two groundwater production bores owned and operated by East Gippsland Water for snowmaking. During the peak winter season snowmaking operations are limited to ensure the town has sufficient drinking water. To increase the reliability of water supply, Council has sought approval from Goulburn Murray Water to drill and install one or two groundwater production bore(s) to support snowmaking operations.

With regards to our last notice regarding the ground water bore, works were not carried out due to having to obtaining a Culture Permit. Work is expected to take place between Tuesday, 10 and Monday, 30 October 2023. Works will be scheduled to occur on weekdays between 7.00am and 6.00pm.

The drilling equipment will use compressed air which may generate excessive noise during the initial five days of drilling. We understand that this may cause some inconveniences for residents and visitors to Dinner Plain; however, we will endeavour to minimise disruptions where possible. The work site will be suitably barricaded to ensure the safety of all residents of Dinner Plain.
