Now is the time to provide feedback on the draft Community Vision and Council Plan 2025-29, with submissions closing at 5pm on Wednesday, 27 May 2025.

The draft Community Vision, Council Plan, and Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan (MPHWP) 2025-2029 is now on public exhibition.

These strategic documents have been developed with extensive community consultation and will guide our municipality over the next four years.

The development of these Plans has been a monumental effort, involving extensive community engagement starting back in July 2024. The process included surveys, market pop-ups, youth engagement, community panels, and numerous workshops, ensuring that the Plans truly reflect the diverse needs and aspirations of our community.

We value your input and invite you to review the draft Plans and share your feedback. Please read the draft Community Vision and Council Plan 2025-29, and share your feedback via the survey below.

We will take appropriate action to protect the privacy of individuals who provide a formal submission for the draft Community Vision and Council Plan 2025-29. Individual submissions will be viewed by Councillors and relevant Council staff. These submissions will be deidentified and summarised for any mandatory Council reporting. Previous Community Engagement

The Council Plan 2025-29 isn't just any document – it is the roadmap that will capture our community's aspirations for the Alpine Shire and guide Council's direction for the next four years.

Whether you're a long-time resident, a new face in our community, a business owner, or a non-resident ratepayer who spends all your free time visiting our incredible valleys, we want to hear from you. Your perspectives, insights, and ideas are crucial in guiding the decisions that will impact our shared future.

The feedback collected during this engagement project will play a crucial role in shaping several key strategic documents that guide our community's future:

A Council Plan is a strategic document that outlines the priorities, goals, and strategies of Council over a four year period.

It serves as a blueprint for how we will deliver services, manage resources, and address community needs and aspirations.

The Council Plan is developed through extensive community consultation and guides the allocation of resources and decision-making processes to achieve desired outcomes for the community's well-being and development.

Why do we need to develop a new one?

We are required to develop and adopt a Council Plan within a specified timeframe that is aligned with our local government election cycle, with an election held every four years.

In 2024, the Council election will be held in October. The new Council Plan must be adopted by October 2025 at the latest.

The Community Vision is a forward-looking statement that articulates Council's desired future state or aspirations.

It represents the overarching goals, values, and aspirations that guide the council's strategic direction and decision-making processes.

Your first option is to complete our survey below and share your thoughts and feedback regarding all of Council's service areas.

We'll ask you what you love about the Shire, and what you'd like to see improved across seven different themes.

We'll also ask some questions regarding your age group, location and gender to help us know we're hearing from diverse groups of people throughout the Shire.

We want to know what your vision is for the Alpine Shire by leave an electronic 'post it' note.

Write your vision or idea one a post, and other members of the community will be able to upvote the ones they like or agree with.

You know what they say - a picture tells a thousand words! If you'd prefer to share your ideas visually, upload your favourite photographs, images and drawings that capture the essence of Alpine Shire – past, present, or future.

You can also choose to add a written caption to elaborate on your idea, or provide a short explanation.

You'll also be able to see the images other have added, and 'like' your favourites!

Join our Community Panel

Are you incredibly passionate about the Alpine Shire and want to be more involved? We invite you to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for our Community Panel.

This diverse group of community members from across the Shire will meet regularly between November 2023 and January 2024.

Together, we will refine community ideas and shape future plans that benefit everyone. Your input is invaluable in guiding strategic decisions and ensuring all voices are heard.

Our online survey, electronic 'sticky notes' and image submissions will be open for submissions until early September.

From mid-September until late October, we will enter caretaker mode in the lead up to the Council election, and we'll take a break from community engagement.

Stay tuned for more information in early November as we'll begin holding pop-up events across the region.

These pop-ups will be a fantastic opportunity to chat to your Councillors and Council staff in person, share your ideas, see what others are saying and connect with fellow community members who share your passion for the Alpine Shire.

Community Panel

Get involved in shaping the future of our Shire by joining the Community Panel!

Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now open for our deliberative panel, for those interested in playing a more involved role in developing the Council Plan.

Panel members will be required to attend several short workshops between November 2024 and January 2025. While there will be a time commitment, we will doing our best to accommodate everyone's schedules.

We aim for the panel to be as diverse as possible and encourage people of all backgrounds, ages, genders, and experiences to apply. Your unique perspective is valuable in creating a comprehensive plan for our community.

Please note, you must be aged 18 or older to submit an EOI for the Community Panel. You also must be a resident or ratepayer of the Alpine Shire - we will not be considering visitors to the region at this time.
