The purpose of the Councillor Expenses and Support Policy is to:
- define the parameters for the reimbursement of necessary and bona fide out of pocket expenses incurred while performing duties as a Councillor or member of a delegated committee, as provided for by section 40 of the Local Government Act 2020; and
- establish the resources, facilities and support to be provided to Councillors.
The Policy has been reviewed following a benchmarking process across other Councils in the Hume region. The changes made to this Policy are to clarify and verify the support that is currently provided to Councillors, including allowances, resources, and facilities, administrative support, transport, insurance, and ICT.
Community members are invited to provide feedback on the proposed changes to the draft Policy. A copy of the document is available for public exhibition.
