March Edition

1 April 2025

Mayor's Message
March has been a month of milestones for our community, with the completion of key projects, the opening of new facilities, and exciting works just around the corner.

It’s been fantastic to see these investments coming to life and making a real difference for our residents.

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of officially opening the Alpine Tip Shop at the Myrtleford Transfer Station, a wonderful new initiative that will help reduce waste and give pre-loved items a second life. It’s great to see projects like this promoting sustainability while also providing practical benefits for our community. If you haven’t been yet, I encourage you to stop by and take a look!

Last Friday evening we celebrated the official reopening of the upgraded Tawonga Memorial Hall. This much-loved community space has been revitalised, ensuring it continues to be a welcoming hub for locals for years to come. Community halls like this play such an important role in bringing people together, and it was wondering to mark this occasion with the Tawonga community.

Alongside these celebrations, it’s exciting to see other significant capital works projects nearing completion or about to begin. The Myrtleford Splash Park is set to be finished in April, providing a fantastic new space for families to cool off and have fun, and the Alpine Better Places works in Pioneer and Tavare Parks in Harrietville are also close to complete. Meanwhile, works on the Myrtleford Memorial Hall are due to commence very soon, ensuring this important community facility continues to serve the town well into the future.

Investing in our public spaces and facilities is a key part of keeping our towns vibrant, connected, and well-supported, and it’s wonderful to see these projects progressing. You can find more information on our Major Projects here.

As we head into the Easter break, I hope everyone enjoys some well-earned time with family and friends. Whether you're staying local or travelling, please stay safe on the roads and take care of one another.

Happy Easter!
