Project background

The toilet will be a single, unisex, accessible toilet with baby changing facilities, as well as an external drinking fountain and bottle fill station. Importantly, this toilet will be connected to all utilities, including power, water, and sewerage.

This project was originally presented to Council in 2022 as part of a community budget submission.

Originally designed as a composting toilet, further investigation by project officers and feedback from a Land Capability Assessment revealed that a composting toilet was inappropriate due to the location being so close to the river in a flood-prone area

As a result, this project has experienced significant technical hurdles due to the nature of available services in this area, including power, water, and connections to sewerage.

But we're now excited to announce that this facility is on track to be open to the public by late May 2026!
