Council’s draft Road Management Plan (RMP) is now open for community feedback.
The RMP is a requirement under the Victorian Government’s Road Management Act and outlines how Council manages, inspects, maintains, and repairs public roads.
It explains the types of roads Council is responsible for, how they are classified, and the standards used to guide inspections, identify issues, and respond to defects.
The draft has been developed with careful consideration of Council’s legal obligations, available resources, and known areas of risk. Community input is an important part of this process, and Council welcomes your feedback to help shape the final plan.
Road Classification Review
Council has also completed a detailed review of all roads in the Alpine Shire to ensure their classifications reflect how they’re used today. This helps us plan future maintenance, prioritise safety, and manage road assets responsibly.
As part of our community engagement, we're inviting questions or comments from residents about the review. Whether you have a query about your local road, how classifications were decided, or what this means going forward—we want to hear from you.
Use the form below to submit your question. We’ll group common themes and publish responses on this page and through Council’s social media channels.
To help get started, we’ve also prepared a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section covering topics we expect may be of most interest to the community.
Thank you for helping us shape a safer, more connected road network.
