Engagement summary
Alpine Shire is a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a diverse range of tracks and trails that cater to walkers, hikers, trail runners, cyclists, mountain bike riders, and more.
Our Tracks and Trails Master Plan 2025-2034 builds on our Tracks and Trails Gap Analysis to develop a strategic framework for the sustainable planning, development, and maintenance of specific and shared-used trails across the region.
Our Tracks and Trails Gap Analysis was an assessment of our existing tracks and trails that will help to address the gaps, identify opportunities for improvement, and help us safeguard the environment so that all users can continue to enjoy our region now and into the future.

Our Tracks and Trails Gap Analysis focuses on conducting a comprehensive gap analysis of tracks and trails within Alpine Shire, with a specific emphasis on:
- assessing the current network for sustainability, accessibility, trail styles, governance structures and environmental impact;
- accommodating the growing demand for mountain biking experience;
- exploring opportunity to diversify trail offerings, alleviate pressures on existing trails and promote sustainable development in alignment with local and broader trends in mountain bike trail provision; and
- collaborating with relevant stakeholders, including land managers, local communities and trail users.
We have three options for you to have your say. You can navigate between the three options by using the tabs below.
- Tell us your experience of tracks and trails - this is a general survey about your experiences using the current network of tracks and trails.
- Have your say on existing tracks and trails - this is a localised survey where you are invited to drop a marker on a map of the Alpine Shire to give feedback about specific tracks and trails that you use.
- Suggest new tracks or trails - this is a localised survey where you are invited to drop a marker on a map of the Alpine Shire to suggest locations for new tracks or trails.
