Youth and Teen Mental Health First Aid

21 January 2025

Nick from the Mental Health Coach is returning to our region for the fourth year running to deliver our Youth and Teen Mental Health First Aid Courses

Youth Mental Health First Aid is a 2-day course designed for adults who work, live with, or support young people - perfect for parents, sports coaches, community leaders, and school staff.

Throughout the course, we cover the most up-to-date information on adolescent development, common mental health problems in young people, where and how to seek professional help for a developing mental illness, the most effective methods and the research behind them, and how to provide mental health first aid in crisis situations.

Location: Bright (details provided upon sign-up)

Dates: 16th February & 17th February 2026

The Youth MHFA course complements the Teen MHFA program, which will be rolled out to all Year 8 and 10 students across the four high schools in Alpine Shire throughout 2026.

Teen Mental Health First Aid is designed to be presented to a class of students over three face-to-face sessions, training every year 8 and year 10 student in all four high schools. The Mental Health Coach has prepared a unique course from the evidence-based research of MHFA to equip our students with the information, skills and action plans to navigate their own mental health challenges, support their peers, and seek out help from a trusted adult at the right time.
